Thomas (FOTY) and Kennedy lead Suns in All-MAC/Region V Honors

JF Thomas, Desmond Kennedy, Joshua Johnson, Levin Johnson, and Eric Stewart as released by the Metro Athletic Conference have received All-Metro Athletic Conference/Region V honors

Concluding his freshman year at Cedar Valley, JF Thomas was named All-MAC/Region V Freshman of the Year and selected to the All-MAC/Region V First Team after averaging a double-double of 18.7 points (2nd in conference) and a conference leading 14.9 rebounds per game. Thomas was also third in the conference in field goal percentage with 60.6% per game. The Dallas native had 15 outings where he scored at least 20 points including two 30+ point outings. Thomas was also named Metro Athletic Conference Player of the Week during the week of January 8-14.

After averaging 18.4 points per game (3rd in conference), Desmond Kennedy was selected to the All-MAC/Region V Second Team. Kennedy started 26 of 27 games for the Suns and shot 41.5% from beyond the arc. The Carter High School alum put together a streak of four games where he scored at least 20+ points including a 34 point performance against IQ Hoops Academy. Kennedy was also named Metro Athletic Conference player of the Week during the week of December 4-10.

The trio of Joshua Johnson, Levin Johnson, and Eric Stewart received All-MAC/Region V Honorable Mention recognition.

J. Johnson made big shots for CVC during the season, including his game-clinching basket against Brookhaven College in January. The Lancaster product put together a stat line of 9.9 ppg, 4.5 rpg, and 2.5 apg for the year.

L. Johnson ranked third in the MAC in three-point percentage, averaging 48.4 for Cedar Valley. His shooting expertise was on display against Kilgore College, where he went 10-17 from three and tallied 31 points.

Stewart was a jack-of-all-trades for CVC in 2016-2017. Starting 23 of 28 games for the Suns, the second time All-MAC selection, was top three statically on the team in points (11.4 ppg), rebounds (5.1), and assists (1.7).
