Balthazar Named DAC Player of Week
IRVING, Texas – Dallas College Cedar Valley's Thamerin Balthazar was named the Dallas Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
A 5-foot-6 freshman guard from Alexandria, Louisiana, Balthazar averaged 19 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals in a pair of wins for the No. 11-ranked Suns last week. She scored 18 points, and had three steals and two rebounds, while hitting seven of 15 field goals, including four of nine from three-point range, in an 87-67 win over No. 12 Dallas College Richland. A day later, she followed that up with 20 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals in a 78-65 victory over Nelson University Junior Varsity.
Balthazar is averaging 11.2 points and 1.6 steals per game, while shooting 32.7 percent from the 3-point line and 76.7 percent from the free throw stripe.
Cedar Valley (9-9, 2-0 DAC) hosts Nelson Junior Varsity 5 p.m. Monday before visiting Dallas College Mountain View (5-11, 0-2) at 6 p.m. Thursday.
