Minnitt Named National Player of Week
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Dallas College Cedar Valley's Tynia Minnitt has been named the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
A 5-foot-4 freshman guard from Waco, Texas, Minnitt had a season-best 26 points on 9-of-18 field goal shooting, while draining all four three-pointers she attempted in a big win over then-No. 11 Dallas College Mountain View last week. Her nine field goals were also a season high, as were her four 3-pointers. She also matched her season high with eight assists, and had seven rebounds, six steals and a block in that win. Three days earlier, Minnitt finished with nine points, seven assists, six rebounds four steals and a block in a road win at East Texas Baptist University.
Her efforts helped vault the Suns into this week's national rankings.
No. 11 Cedar Valley (7-9, 1-0 Dallas Athletic Conference) will host No. 12 Dallas College Richland (5-8, 0-0) at 4 p.m. Monday in the DAC Game of the Week.
