Bio

Robert Dally took over as interim head baseball coach at Dallas College Cedar Valley in 2007. He was elevated to head coach in 2008.

In his Cedar Valley coaching career, Dally has racked up 431 wins following the 2025 season.

In 2025, the Suns went 25-30 with a trip to the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III South Central District Tournament. The Suns beat every team in the Dallas Athletic Conference at least once, while posting wins over No. 3 Dallas College Eastfield, No. 6 Dallas College Richland and No. 14 Dallas College Brookhaven. Dally's team posted a 3.79 grade point average – the highest among NJCAA Division III baseball programs. It was the second time in three years his team had the highest GPA in the sport in NJCAA Division III. It was also the 13th consecutive year the Suns' baseball team earned NJCAA All-Academic recognition. 

Dally collected his 400th win on April 22, 2024 in the second game of a doubleheader sweep of Southwestern Assemblies of God University, winning, 3-2. That season, his team won over 30 games for the second straight year, going 31-26 with a trip to the NJCAA Division III South Central District Tournament. Hayden Carpenter was selected as an NJCAA Division III Third Team All-American.

In 2023, the Suns won a program-record 38 games, advancing to the NJCAA III South Central District semifinals. Cedar Valley went 38-21 overall, 16-14 in the Dallas Athletic Conference. Outfielder Caden Robertson became a First Team All-American, belting a school-record and nation-leading 19 home runs, and driving in 79 runs, which also led NJCAA Division III. First baseman Blaine Thomas led the country in doubles (27), while pitcher Caleb Pacheco shared the national lead in victories (11) in setting the school record for wins on the mound. Cedar Valley posted a 3.58 grade point average, which led NJCAA Division III baseball teams. It was the 11th consecutive year the Suns earned NJCAA All-Academic Team distinction.

In 2022, Dally’s team went 29-25 overall, advancing to the opening round of the district tournament. The Suns won seven games in a row in March, not allowing more than four runs in any of those victories. Antonio Sabala earned Second Team All-America honors. 

During the 2019 campaign, Cedar Valley went 31-21, marking the second time under Dally the Suns won over 30 games. His team ran off nine straight wins in the last full month of the season. Outfielder Billy Rogers was a First Team All-American after hitting .488 with 23 doubles, four triples, five homers and 63 RBI, while producing 99 hits. His .488 average ranked third in the nation. Second Team All-American Jose Castillo led the country in doubles (27), while hitting .429, belting six home runs and driving in 72 runs.

Cedar Valley went 37-18 overall, 19-11 in the Metro Athletic Conference in 2017, marking the first time under Dally the Suns won over 30 games. Dally’s team won nine straight games in March, five of which they held their opponent to three runs or less, while scoring double-digit runs in six contests. Pitcher Shannon Broussard went 10-2 in earning Honorable Mention All-American recognition to tie the school record for most wins in a season.

Dally’s teams won over 20 games in back-to-back seasons in 2013 and 2014, racking up 27 and 21 victories, respectively. It was the second time the Suns did that under Dally’s leadership. Cedar Valley won 23 games in 2010 and 24 in 2011. His first 20-win season came in his first full year as head coach when the Suns went 21-30 in 2008.

Dally’s first First Team All-American was catcher Timmy Lawson in 2012. He batted .431 with 15 doubles and two triples. Dally’s teams earned finished the season with a national ranking in 2008, 2010 and 2011. The Suns received votes in 2017, 2019, 2020 and 2023. They finished the year ranked in the country in 2008, 2010 and 2011. His teams finished second in the MAC in 2016 and 2017, and third in 2011, while also finishing third in the DAC in 2019, 2020 and 2023.

He’s had two players selected in the Major League Baseball draft, and four who’ve signed professionally.

Prior to taking over at Cedar Valley, Dally coached at Nolan Catholic High School in Fort Worth.

Dally earned a Bachelor of Arts in exercise and sports studies from the University of Texas at Arlington. He earned his masters degree in education from Southwestern Assemblies of God University.
