Bio
Justin Ray was named assistant baseball coach at Dallas College Cedar Valley in August 2021.
He works primarily with infielders and hitters, while serving as the Suns recruiting coordinator.
In 2024, Ray was a member of a staff that helped the Suns win over 30 games for the second straight year. Cedar Valley went 31-26, making a trip to the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III South Central District Tournament. He coached Hayden Carpenter, who earned NJCAA Division III Third Team All-America honors.
In 2023, the Suns won a school-record 38 games, advancing to the South Central District semifinals. Caden Robertson was named an NJCAA Division III First Team All-American.
In his first season, Cedar Valley went 29-25, reaching the district postseason tournament. Antonio Sabala earned Second Team All-America honors.
Ray has operated the Texas 27s Baseball Academy since 2017. He offers hitting and fielding lessons in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and has assisted in helping several student-athletes land a home with collegiate programs. He has also worked in the private sector.
A product of Midlothian (Texas) High School, Ray played shortstop at San Jacinto College in the Houston area before transferring to Eastfield College, where he helped the Harvester Bees win the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III World Series in 2011. Ray continued his playing career at Colorado Christian University, an NCAA Division II program. In 2013, he batted .322 with six doubles, 15 RBI and four stolen bases in 46 games with the Cougars.
Ray earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Colorado Christian.
