HIGHLIGHTS

LANCASTER, Texas – Dallas College Cedar Valley's baseball team secured its first series win of the season. The Suns beat Dallas College Mountain View for the second straight day, winning 10-5 in Thursday's Game 2 at Lancaster High School.

The win came following Wednesday's 6-5 win in the first game of the three-game series. Game 3 is scheduled for 12 p.m. Friday at Mountain View.

Cedar Valley (11-21, 2-12 Dallas Athletic Conference) scored five runs in the first inning, and tacked on two more in each of its at-bats in the seventh and eighth to put the game away. Mountain View scored five in the top of the sixth, but still trailed by a run entering the final three innings.

Suns relievers Jace Monroe, Caden Nachtigall and Lyncoln Schaeffer each pitched a scoreless inning to close it out. Christian Alcala (2-2) went six innings, allowing five unearned runs on eight hits and a walk to record the victory. Nachtigall struck out three batters in his inning of work.

Left fielder Kai Kirchheiner was 4 for 5 with a double and an RBI. First baseman Harrison Hickey was 2 for 4 with a home run and two RBI. Second baseman Carson Daniels went 2 for 5 in a game the Suns had 12 hits.

Center fielder Rendon Garcia, shortstop Easton Bettcher, catcher Brance Farrell and designated hitter Hill Wiley each had a hit. Right fielder Joshawa Esquivel had a walk, and drove in a run. Farrell and Wiley each doubled. Farrell and Hickey drove in two runs apiece.

The Suns will begin the second round of conference play next Wednesday at No. 2 Dallas College Eastfield. Cedar Valley hosts the final two games of that series at Lancaster High School.
