Cedar Valley Top NJCAA DIII Academic Baseball Team in Country

LANCASTER, Texas – Dallas College Cedar Valley's baseball team posted the highest grade point average for a National Junior College Athletic Association Division III program in its sport.

The Suns had a 3.79 team GPA, which ranked third among all NJCAA baseball teams, behind Paris Junior College (3.99) and Daytona State College.

Cedar Valley's 3.79 team GPA is the highest in program history, topping the 2015 team's 3.62. The Suns' 2023 team also had the highest team GPA among NJCAA Division III programs, earning a 3.58 in 2022-23.

Additionally, student-athletes Lane Atherton, Carson Daniels, Drake McIver, William Messner, Lyncoln Schaeffer and Dawson Snow earned First Team All-Academic individual honors for maintaining a 4.0 GPA during the 2024-25 academic year.

Elyjah Anderson Avery Dubose, Jovan Bernal, David Chandler, Johnny Garcia, Joshua Lile, Caden Nachtigall, Billy Rios IV and received Second Team All-Academic honors for posting a GPA between 3.80-3.99.

Christian Alcala, Jovan Bernal, Addison Brown, Blake Brown, Julio Cuotto, Joshawa Esquivel, AJ Tapia, Elandis Taylor, Nathan Tucker and Ty Willingham earned Third Team All-Academic honors after recording GPAs between 3.60 and 3.79.

Cedar Valley has received the All-Academic Team honor every year since 2013 under head coach Robert Dally.
