Suns Meet Bears to Open District Tournament

FARMERS BRANCH, Texas – Dallas College Cedar Valley's baseball team will compete in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III South Central District Tournament elimination round Wednesday at Dallas College Brookhaven.
Sixth-seeded Cedar Valley (30-26) meets third-seeded Brookhaven (25-26) at 10 a.m. Wednesday in a winner-moves-on tournament opener. Fourth-seeded North Arkansas College (33-16) meets fifth-seeded Dallas College North Lake (24-32) at 1 p.m. Wednesday for a right to advance.
No. 2 nationally-ranked Dallas College Eastfield (44-11) and No. 6 Dallas College Richland (37-18) receive first round byes. Both await the winners of Wednesday's games on Thursday at Eastfield.
The tournament follows a four-team single-elimination first day, followed by a double-elimination bracket over three days once the venue switches to Eastfield.
Eastfield won the last two district championships, advancing to the NJCAA Division III World Series, finishing as back-to-back runner-up. Eastfield beat Richland in last year's district championship round.
Cedar Valley advanced to the semifinal round last year after winning a program-best 38 games.
