Duran, Odom named All-MAC and All-Region V

The CVC Volleyball Team had five Lady Suns freshmen receive All-Metro Athletic Conference honors, announced by the conference office today. Brenda Duran (Del Rio, TX) and Cali Odom (Minneapolis, MN/ Midway HS) were both named All-MAC and All-Region V 2nd Team selections, while Makayla Brisco (Borger, TX), Carsyn Ivy (Huntington, TX), and Jazlyn Pipkins (Paris, TX) earned All-MAC Honorable Mentions.

Brenda Duran, at outside hitter led the Lady Suns in kills, digs, points and hitting percentage for the season. In 29 matches, Duran registered 293 kills (2.76 k/s), 359 digs (3.39 d/s), 328 points (3.1 p/s), to go along with a .207 hitting percentage.

Cali Odom was a constant at middle blocker for the Lady Suns this season, leading the team with 11 solo blocks (65 total). Odom was also second on the squad in points scored with 225 (2.0 p/s), kills with 187 (1.65 k/s) and block assists with 54 (0.58 b/s).

Makayla Brisco, earned 160 kills (1.74 k/s), to go along with 27 service aces, 30 total blocks (0.33 b/s), and 203 points (203.0 p/s).

Carsyn Ivy was the only member of the Lady Suns to play in all 32 matches and 118 sets, during the season. During that time starting at setter, Ivy registered a team leading 558 assists (4.73 a/s).

Jazlyn Pipkins, led CVC with 70 total blocks (0.78 b/s) and 62 block assists in 2016. Pipkins also tallied 94 kills and 11 solo blocks.
