In their final home game of the regular season, the CVC Men's Basketball Team will honor sophomores Joshua Johnson, Levin Johnson, Dalyn Mumphrey, and Eric Stewart before tip-off against the North Lake Blazers on Saturday, February 18 at 2:00 p.m.
The Suns will be looking to shake off a recent three game losing skid before the Metro Athletic Conference Tournament, after falling to Eastfield College 94-83, on Wednesday night. J. Johnson led the team with 23 points.
Joshua Johnson - Lancaster, TX
In his only season at CVC, the Lancaster native has made an impact in the Suns program. Johnson is averaging 8.9 ppg, 4.2 rpg, and 2.4 apg to go along with a 44.9 FG %. Johnson has hit big shots for the Suns this year, including his game winner against Brookhaven earlier this season and had a career night against IQ Hoops Academy, turning in a 23 points, 13 rebounds.
Levin Johnson - Fort Worth, TX
In his two seasons with the Suns, Johnson will leave behind a signature of three point excellence, averaging over 40% from beyond the arc for his career at Cedar Valley. Johnson is currently averaging 49.3 % this season from the three point line to go along with 10.2 ppg and 2.0 rpg. Johnson's standout performance this season was a 31 point outburst against Kilgore College, where he went 10-17 from three point range.
Dalyn Mumphrey - Dallas, TX
In his lone season at CVC, Mumphrey has patrolled the paint for the Suns, averaging 8.2 rpg, 7.8 ppg, and 0.5 blkpg, with a 39.7% shooting mark. Mumphrey has grabbed at least 10 rebounds in ten games this year, including a 17 rebound outing against Minnesota West Community & Technical College. The Dallas product's highest scoring showing came against Weatherford College, where he poured in 17 points.
Eric Stewart - Arlington, TX
Stewart earned high praise in his freshman season at CVC, after being named an All-Metro Athletic Conference selection in 2015-2016. Stewart would carry that momentum into his sophomore season averaging 11.3 ppg, 4.6 rpg, and 2.9 apg. Stewart has registered three 20+ point games this year including back-to-back performances against Eastfield (25 points) and North Lake (24 points).
In the first meeting of the season between the Suns and Blazers, NLC came away with a 86-77 win. Stewart had a game high 24 points. North Lake recently defeated Mountain View, 94-79 on Wednesday night.
