This week, the CVC Baseball Team returns to postseason action when they travel to Joe Hunter Field in Beeville, Texas for the NJCAA District C Tournament. Cedar Valley will be competing in the East Divisional Bracket with site host the Coastal Bend Cougars, Brookhaven Bears, and Mountain View Lions.
CVC enters the tournament as the third seed and will face Brookhaven in the opening round on Thursday, May 9 at noon. The Suns finished the regular season with an overall record of 30-19 and a Dallas Athletic Conference record of 14-16.
vs. No. 2 Brookhaven
Against the Bears this season, CVC finished with an overall record of 1-5 in their two series meetings. The two squads are very familiar with each other with both teams having played each other last weekend to wrap the regular season. Noah Lynch starred in the early win against BHC leading to a DAC Pitcher of the Week selection.
vs. No. 4 Mountain View
The Suns hold the advantage against MVC winning four of the six games played this year. CVC outscored the Mountain Lions 77-41 in their season series including two 21-run scoring outings. Billy Rogers and Jamison Totten each earned DAC Position Player of the Week honors against Mountain View.
vs. No. 1 Coastal Bend
It has been two seasons since CVC and Coastal Bend last played, with that meeting coming in the 2017 NJCAA District C Tournament. During that historic season, the Suns won a record-breaking 37 games.
The winner of the East Divisional Bracket will take on the winner of the West Divisional Bracket (North Lake, Tyler, Eastfield, or Richland) in the District C Championship Series. This tournament is a qualifier for the NJCAA Division III World Series to be held in Greeneville, Tennessee.
