Broussard and Payan Earn Metro Athletic Conference Player of the Week Honors

Shannon Broussard and Jesus Payan, as released by the conference office today have been named Metro Athletic Conference Player of the Week for their performances against Mountain View College and Southwestern University (J.V.) during the week of March 19-25.

Jesus Payan, had a phenomenal week for Cedar Valley that included a total stat line of eight RBIs, eight runs, three doubles, a triple and a home run, all while posting a .450% batting average. Payan helped seal CVC's first MAC series sweep, with a late three-run homer in the Suns, 10-8 game three victory over MVC.

Shannon Broussard, claimed his second MAC Player of the Week accolade after throwing a complete-game shutout against Mountain View, which resulted in a 2-0 Suns win. Broussard went all nine innings on the mound for the Suns, facing 30 batters, which resulted in seven strikeouts, no runs, and only three hits. The Baytown native improved his record to 5-0 on the season.

Cedar Valley continues Metro Athletic Conference action this Wednesday when they travel to face Richland College.
